About Andrea
I'm Andrea, and I'm glad you're here!
I'm a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) offering in-person and online sessions for adults. I came to this work because I believe people are genuinely capable of growth and change, not despite what they've been through, but sometimes because of it.
I work with people navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, chronic illness and pain, life transitions, PTSD, and neurodiversity. I also offer faith-based counselling as an option for clients who find that perspective meaningful.
My approach is eclectic and person-centred. I draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and EMDR, and I adapt these tools to best suit you, rather than trying to squeeze you into a box.
I am a member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), and I am registered with EMDR Canada and EMDRIA.
Sessions are available in person and online. My services are offered to individuals located in British Columbia.
In-person sessions are held on Saturdays at No Fear Counselling (Brentwood), #900 - 2025 Willingdon Ave, Burnaby, BC V5C 0J3. Online sessions are available Tuesday through Sunday.
“Stuck, not broken.”
Most of what people bring to therapy is not a sign that something is wrong with them. It is what builds up when difficult experiences are carried for a long time without enough support. The work is to help you get unstuck.
“Bite-by-bite.”
This phrase guides how I think about pacing in therapy. We move at a speed that respects what you are carrying, not faster than feels safe and not so slowly that we stay stuck. There is no timeline you have to meet here.
Why I do this work
Even when it is tough to see during difficult or overwhelming times, all of us have the skills and abilities to rebuild and start again in a way that matters to us. That perspective sits at the heart of why I do this work.
You are not broken, so I will not try to fix you. Instead, we work together to uncover the strengths and values that were always there, and to build new skills along the way.
What drew me to counselling is the desire to be present for people during dark and lonely times, to be someone you feel comfortable reaching out to.
